HSA Penance
Wednesday February 11, 2009
Each year
in preparation for Communion, the Second Grade class receives
the sacrament of Penance on a Wednesday morning in January.
The Sacrament
is a peaceful and moving experience for children’s immediate
family who watch their child transition to a new level in the development
of their faith.
After penance, each student, accompanied by two adult
family members, celebrate at St. Joan of Arc’s Penance Breakfast,
which is organized by the Home School Association.
In the wee hours
of the morning, truly dedicated HSA volunteers transform Ward Meehan
Hall into a beautifully decorated catered affair accompanied by
music to honor the 2nd grade penance recipients.
Surrounded by
hues of purple and silver, the families enjoy bagels and pastries
with their juice and coffee.
Volunteers are essential for this
special event which is a great way for early risers to help HSA.
Please email us if you can sign up for this subcommittee.
